#1 -- Please pray for one of my students. He was hit by a truck while riding his bike last week and was critically injured, and was transported via LifeFlight to a hospital here in Houston. We are having a replenishment blood drive in his honor to cover the blood that he has been given (a lot), plus some to help out the community on Thursday -- if you live/work/will be in the Alvin area between 8-2pm on the 12th, let me know...and if you can't, just continue to keep him, and his family in your prayers -- he and they all need some positive energy and the support of family and friends right now.

#2 Forgive me for not posting about this earlier, Mom, but, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! I love you!!! My mom works tirelessly to make sure that my sister and I are taken care of if we ever need help, and she always steps up to help others, no matter what the inconvenience is to her. She is not a touchy-feely, huggy mom, but, even so, there is never a doubt about how much she cares for you. I am soooo lucky to have her as a Mom, and I wouldn't trade her for anyone! (PS I did call and send her a card, so, don't think I am that behind)
#3 Saturday was a really outstanding day. I woke up early, picked up breakfast tacos for Tate and I, and enjoyed my day. This past week was Teacher Appreciation Week, and I received a pretty gerbera daisy plant from one of my students. It was in one of the plastic pots, so, I figured if this plant had any chance of survival, I would need to get it a permanent home ASAP.
So, I found a plain, brown clay pot that the daisy could hang out in for a while. I think it brings a nice little splash of greenery to our kitchen...
#4 Because I couldn't buy an entire bag of potting soil for one little plant, I decided I should probably invest in some other plants to give our apartment more "life". I've never really had any plants to tend to, so, I thought that a variety of cactus plants would be a sound investment. They are used to arid environments, so, a few days without watering, wouldn't put them on death's doorstep, so I figured I could refine my green thumb with a pretty low maintenance plant...
I love the colors of the cactus flowers -- so pretty and vibrant.
Apparently Daisy likes them too, be careful little puppy, those spines hurt!!!#5 I love having a clean family room. I spent Sunday night putting away the pile of clean laundry that had accumulated on the couch, folded and put away the throw blankets, and dusted the tv stand, tv and accent tables. Daisy is soooo not on her end of the couch, by the way -- bad dog.

#6 I am not a master cake ball maker. Not at all. But, I did make these for Mother's Day. Their shape is totally awkward, but, they tasted quite yummy. You have to love single serving snacks -- all about moderation.

#7 I am reallllly loving the notebooks I got from Target over the weekend...the geometric patterns and bright colors make these acceptable material for the top of my desk...sorry raggedy old spirals, you are banished to the desk drawer.

Hi Amy! First off, I am so sorry to hear about your student. That is so sad and scary. Good luck with the blood drive and I will be keeping him and his family in my prayers.
On a second note, I love your new plants! You and I are learning about plants at the same time, and I just hope that we can both have big gardens one day! :) Ahh, it is so hard to keep them alive though--I am not sure if I have the green thumb gift. Good luck with yours! They look so bright and happy.
